Buck Up(date)!

So what has been going on in my life? A few things. I started grad school a couple weeks ago. So far, so good. My first course seems like it is going to be pretty cake. I hope they're all like that! I'm getting my masters of education in administration. I don't really have a desire to be a principal, I really love being in the classroom, but I want to have it just in case. I figured if I got a masters in curriculum, it wouldn't leave me with many options. At least with an admin degree, I should have more doors open up to me further down the road. I am getting my degree through Concordia University, but my classes are held at Garden Grove high school, which is about 10 minutes away from the school I work at, so it's super convenient. There's 3 other people in my class who teach in my district, one of whom teaches 6th grade at my school. I'm the youngest person in my class and I have the least amount of experience. I feel a little young to be getting my admin degree, but better to get it done now while I don't have kids.

School started last week, so I am back to a Monday through Friday routine, which is nice. It's always good to go back to work after summer vacation. I love getting to know my new students. I have 19 students so far. I have a feeling I am going to have a rough group this year. Several of my students have a hard time staying on task and getting their work done. It's kind of frustrating. Hopefully I can whip them into shape. I also have a student who has quite the reputation. His dad is apparently a real jerk who has absolutely no respect for education or teachers. His son is a problematic student and everytime an issue is brought up to him, he turns it around on the teacher. The teacher he had last year told me to never conference with this parent without the principal present. Yikes!

Nate got a new car, against my better judgement. He got a Mercury Mariner. He also competed in his 2nd triathlon today. Harley and I were there to cheer him on.

I will be participating in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer next weekend. I am getting nervous. I really want to finish the entire 39. something rather miles. I hope my body is up for the challenge! I definitely didn't train as much as I should have! Wish me luck!
