2 days, 39.3 miles, 1 cause

Last weekend I partcipated in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. After months of anticipation, training, and fundraising the day finally came where I challenged myself to walk a total of 39.3 miles over 2 days. I am proud to say that I accomplished the task! And surprisingly, it wasn't that difficult. Don't get me wrong, it definitely wasn't a walk in the park. Wait, actually it was since some of the route went through parks. You know what I mean! The first day I walked 26.2 miles, the distance of a marathon. The second day, I walked 13.1 miles. So all in all, I walked the distance of a marathon and half. My walking buddy on the first day, Nicole, walked the entire 26.2 miles with me, but unfortunately did not make it back for the second day. Anie walked the entire 13.1 miles with me the second day, having walked 13.1 miles the previous day. So she walked the total of a marathon and she's pregnant! Go Anie! What a trooper. I told myself that I was going to try my hardest to walk the entire distance and I did! I'm pleased with myself. In addition to completing the entire walk, I also managed to raise more money than my goal amount. Thanks to family, friends, and coworkers I raised $2100! There was a total of 2,100 participants, and together we raised more than $5 million! I am so glad I did this. It was an emotional event filled with tears, laughs and sweat! My entire family came to the closing ceremonies and it meant a lot to me, especially seeing my sister, whom was the inspiration for my walk. I'm glad that I could play a role, small as it might be, in the fight against breast cancer.
