I had such a great birthday that lasted all weekend. Friday night I went out with some great friends for drinks at La Cave. It was a much needed night out after the week I had at work!
Saturday Nate took me to Lake Elsinore for my birthday surprise of skydiving! I always wanted to try it, but didn't know if I was truely capable of doing it. Turns out I was! After waiting for over 4 hours to finally get harnessed up and meet our instructor, we boarded the airplane. Waiting that long certainly gives you a lot of time to have second thoughts and doubts! It took about 20 minutes for the plane to reach the jumping altitude of 12, 500 feet! It was an uncomfortable ride with about 20 people crammed into this tiny plane and a harness up my crotch and butterflies like crazy in my belly! When the hatch opened up and we began sliding down the bench, I said a quick prayer. Before I knew it, I was watching Nate jump and then I was immediately on the edge of the plane. I can't even remember what I was thinking at that moment, it all happened so fast. One moment I was on plane, the next I was soaring through the sky! The freefall lasted for about 1 minute and then I was instructed to pull the chute. It took another 4 or 5 minutes to reach the ground. Once the chute was pulled, I was definitely more relaxed, but still incredibly scared! I held the parachute and my instructor had me do some turns. The first one was cool, but the second one made me feel sick to my stomach. I was dreading the landing, but it turned out to be super easy, with enough wind for us to land easily on our feet, rather than our butts! All in all, it was an amazing experience and I am so proud of accomplishing something so incredible! Thanks Nate, for the best birthday present ever!
Sunday was my actual birthday and I just spent the day relaxing and running a few errands. My dad took us out to my favorite restaurant, Fisherman's in San Clemente. During our 1.5 hour wait for a table, we watched the sunset on the pier. We always order the same thing there: the crab feast. And a feast it is! Buckets of mussels, clam chowder, salad, rice, veggies, and a huge platter of crab legs! Mmmmmm!
It was all such a great way to spend my last birthday in my twenties. I definitely am not looking forward to turning 30. I think I will be 29 for the next few birthdays. Enjoy the pics!
