My deadline to complete my 101 in 1001 is tomorrow. I am very disappointed in myself for not completing more items, but I did complete quite a few and I am proud of the ones I did complete. Many of the ones I didn't complete are so simple and I definitely should have done them, but for some reason or another I didn't. I could list a billion excuses as to why I didn't do them, but I won't do that. Some were completely out of my control (ie. have a baby), but other like, have a picnic with Nate should have been done. But oh well. Time is up. It doesn't mean I still won't try to do those things. In fact, maybe I will make another list. We'll see.
Last weekend I was able to check off one item. I visited my grandmother's grave. She passed away in 2000 and I haven't been back to the grave site since the day we buried her. She is buried in Inglewood, along with her other family members. I was a little hesitant to go to Inglewood by myself and I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to find her grave. I had the map from her funeral and all I could remember was that she was buried by a big angel statue. After a loop around the huge cemetery, I finally found her area and the angel. It took me about 15 minutes of walking around to find her site. I first saw members of her family and knew she must be close by. I was about to give up and go ask the office for help, but I looked up and saw her name. I'm glad I finally made the trip to go visit her.
My grandmother, Nannie's, grave
Nannie's dad. My great grandfather.
My grandma's brother
And then there was this grave that was so big I could see it from the road. Spooky.
